The Gallery

For over twenty years — since the late 1990s in Australia, and continuing today from Bora Bora — I’ve painted in the abstract expressionist tradition. Creativity runs in the family; both my parents and grandparents were artists, and I later formalized my own eye for it earning a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in art history, from the Australian National University.

What draws me to abstraction is what it leaves open. I’m not interested in painting a coconut tree and calling it a coconut tree. I want each canvas to hold color, gesture, and feeling — enough that two people can stand in front of the same piece and walk away with two entirely different stories. As Bruce Lee put it, “the truth is outside of all fixed patterns.” That’s abstraction to me: closer to something true than realism ever gets.

Working mainly in oils on canvas, with acrylic pieces in the mix, this gallery brings together original work built across two decades and two very different corners of the world — available to view, and available to take home.
